Summer summer…

Hmmm.  Where did June go?  I don’t know if it’s the good times, the abundance of music, the busy schedule, or a combination of all of these good things that constantly and consistently seem to make time fly by faster and faster.  June is indeed gone but I have to say that I enjoyed each and every minute of it.  It started out with the Peach Bottom Farm Fiddle & Strings Camp in Independence, VA.  Grayson County has become very special to me.  The people there feel like family, the countryside feels like home, the music never fails to inspire me anew.  After camp we were honoured to perform at Wayne C Henderson’s Music Festival which was a thrill.  Our only complaint about that gig was not being able to hang out longer with the talented musicians our friends for the fabulous jam sessions we know ensued.  We had to leave right after our set to get to Blowing Rock, NC on time.  We made it and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Joe Shannon’s Mountain Home Music show.  We look forward to catching up with all these folks again some time for longer visits!  I left the south for Minnesota after that and had a great time teaching at Brian Wicklund’s Fiddle Pal Camp in Marine on St. Croix, MN.  There were so many talented young people playing fiddle at that camp and I got to catch up with some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time.  I’m looking forward to Brian’s first camp in Boston coming up in August  as well.  After Fiddle Pal I got one day at home before we headed to Canada’s newest territory, Nunavut.  Nothing could have prepared me for the special experience I would have there.  Canada’s far northern land, the Inuit people and a combination of musicians from around the world gathered in this amazing place made for a memorable and touching experience I will never forget.  I am headed home now for about a week and have plenty of plans to keep me busy – in fact way too many plans to realistically accomplish them all in just a week – but I will prioritize and be productive and enjoy, and it will all work out!  In case you didn’t notice, we launched the online sales of our new CD “That’s How We Run” this month!  Lots more release plans coming up for the new record that we are so excited about.  And next up is Colorado!  I already can’t wait to start our next adventures…  Thanks for reading, have a great summer and hope to see you or talk to you again soon!
