October Tour & LEAF Festival Vlog

Hey Folks!
October was one of those months…  Today is November first and when I sat down to write this (and with my thoughts already looking ahead to the November & December tours) I actually had to look up where we had been!  We started out in California at the end of September at the Sebastopol Celtic Festival.  That festival was the first one I played in California on my first tour ever with my own band back in 2000, it was great to return and share the bill with some amazing musicians.
We took the red-eye from Oakland to Nashville after our set on Sunday and arrived just in time for the IBMA World of Bluegrass Conference.  We showcased and jammed and schmoozed and took seminars and saw lots of friends we only get to see there (including beloved ex-AVB members!)
We had lots of fun and very little sleep (but we sure weren’t the only ones!)  We started our southeast tour on the Thursday of the conference so we didn’t get to enjoy fanfest, but we did enjoy wonderful concerts in GA, TN & VA before getting a couple of days off to rest.  Well, rest and jam  and fish with our good friend Jerry Correll in Elk Creek, VA that is!  The river was low and it was cold and windy, but we prevailed and had a good time despite the less than perfect conditions (and learned a bunch of great new tunes!)
The tour continued in MD (where we got to hang out for a bit with our good friends the McLanahans & the Hardys!) and then we headed into NY (where we played for the scientists at the Brookhaven National Laboratory and saw our friend Huge) and CT (where we played in an awesome barn and a historic opera house) and then…yet another red eye!  We were honored to play at the Lake Eden Arts Festival in NC and though we were only there for a couple of hours we had a blast.  We hope they’ll have us back again and next time we’ll block off the whole weekend and you won’t be able to pry us away!
We spent a few days catching up on work and rest at Clay’s family lake house in Lake Lure, NC before heading to Red Deer, AB for Alberta Showcase.  We had flight trouble on the way there but got there in the nick of time to showcase and turn around and fly…HOME!  Where we’ve all been for almost 2 weeks.  And we have 3 sleeps left before we start the next month long stint!  Life is GREAT – we are living the dream!

Below is our first vlog (from LEAF!)  Have a look…
