Autumnal Update

Greetings from business class (Newark to Portland)!  Yes we’ve been busy and things are going great.  No, I can’t afford to fly us all business class quite yet.  But thanks to my air miles I got upgraded on this flight and it sure is comfy!

The fall has been a whirl wind so far.  I left home before Labour Day and we toured in the Northeast & New England for a couple of weeks.  Then we flew to Baton Rouge, LA where we performed a showcase at Southern Arts and played on live WRKF.  We were in and out of there overnight unfortunately, but hopefully as a result of the showcase we’ll be in those parts more often soon!

With no sleep and a super long travel day we flew to Atlanta and played in Dahlonega & Birmingham before heading to Nashville for IBMA’s World of Bluegrass.  We love WOB!  It always feels like a big reunion with friends and peers.

Plus my parents were there this year so I got to see and visit with them a little bit.  We had an official and a couple of unofficial showcases and left exhausted but happy!  We toured the south for a few more days (TN, GA, NC, SC) with great gigs and a stop in for some home cooking at Clay’s folks in Anderson.  And then we headed to the Celtic Colours International Festival in Cape Breton!  A festival I’ve long heard about and dreamed of being a part of.  It is one of those festivals we’d heard so much about that we weren’t sure it could ever live up to all the hype.  But it did!  And we got to hear so much wonderful music, collaborate with some of our heros and new friends, and saw the beautiful foliage on the many drives around the island from concert to concert.  Ooooh, let’s not forget the early morning and late night Tim Horton’s stops that made me feel so at home!  I sure hope we’ll get to go back to Celtic Colours some day.  If you haven’t been yet – save up your vacation and go – you’ll thank us for the tip!

Things have been going great with the new CD.  Thanks to our publicists (Jane Harbury in Canada, Stephanie Fields in USA) we’ve been doing lots of interviews, in-studio appearances and getting lots of airplay.  If you haven’t seen our DJ thank you video yet you can check it out here.  I also just ordered our 2nd batch of CDs from the manufacturer.  Yeeehaaww!  And…wait for it…we just got stickers and ordered t-shirts!  Can’t wait to see what they look like!  We’ll have them with us in a couple of weeks.

It’s been a fall full of conferences and showcases which bodes well for the upcoming seasons.  Our agents are hard at work and so are we.  Soon we’ll be able to tell you about our new and very exciting collaboration project too!  I can’t wait to share it – it’s going to be too much fun!

But for now, I should probably sign off and enjoy my first class meal and beverage service!  See you down the road!
